If you combined Tinder and Hinge and then required women and non-binary individuals to make the first move, you'd get Bumble. Starting on the app is quite simple: You create a profile with a bio, personal traits, and what you're looking for so people will know whether you're after a relationship or something casual.

As of April 30, 2024, Bumble revamped its "First Move" feature to include "Opening Moves," which lets women and non-binary users set a question (or create one) for their matches to respond to. The app also updated its "Dating Intentions" badges to include additional options like "fun, casual dates" and "life partner" so you can be clear about what you're looking for right on your profile.

In heterosexual matches, women have to make the first move within 24 hours, or the match disappears. (For same-sex matches, either person can start the conversation.)
